"The Gang Runs for Office" is the fifteenth episode of the American situation comedy series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia aired on August 3, 2006 on the FX Network in the United States. The episode was directed by Dan Attias and written by David Hornsby.
Charlie is showing Frank his Garbage Pail Kids card collection. Frank wants some cards but Charlie does not sell them because it's an investment. Mac comes in with a tax paper that they have to pay, saying how the bar is being "ass-blasted" by said taxes. Dee says that if they wanted to do something about it, they should vote every once in a while. Frank says that politicians are corrupt and you have to be a lowlife to be one, which gives an idea to the guys.
There's a local election for comptroller and Mac nominates Dennis. Charlie wants to the campaign manager and Dee gets to be the intern. Frank interrupts and wants to be the campaign manager. Mac does not get to be campaign manager because he was voted off. Frank gets hobos to wear signs to support Dennis. Charlie tries to convince Dennis to fire Frank because he really wants to be campaign manager. Dennis and Charlie dump Frank.
Frank goes to Dee and tells her to run for comptroller. They will bribe the people at the election place to win and get back at Dennis.
Mac is also trying to bribe the people, but he is unsuccessful. He isn't convinced that the people there are honest. The guy at the office decides to screw him over because Mac called them nerds.
Dennis and Charlie are campaigning at the mall. Mac finds them and wants to help them and does anything to prove himself worhty of them. Mac ends up practically stealing a baby.
Frank tries to make Dee sexy. He says she looks like a whore. Frank wants to use the sex card as much as possible. Dee knows now that Frank is a horrible father.
Mac meets up the guys from the office and they make a proposal. Mac has to pull Dennis from the race and the guys will make some money. Or else Mac will get hurt and be stabbed in the throat. Mac goes back to Dennis and Charlie and tries to convince Dennis to drop out, and fails. Charlie proves that he is dyslexic when Dennis reads his written campaign speech.
Frank and Dee go to the opposing candidate, Jack, to solicit a bribe. Dee and the current comptroller start flirting. Dee fires Frank.
Mac goes to Frank because he wants to destroy Dennis. Then the viewers see a bashing tv commercial that calls Dennis a baby rapist.
Charlie and Frank meet secretly, Charlie needs the tape, Frank says Dennis needs to drop out. They make a compromise. Frank gets Charlie's cards and Mac is so disappointed because now he thinks he's gonna get hurt.
Dee and Jack are out for drinks. Dee is getting really drunk. Jack suggests to go somewhere private but before they leave the restaurant, his wife storms in and yells at the two of them. Dee is really drunk and hardly knows what's going on.
Back at the bar, Dennis doesn't want to be the comptroller anymore. Charlie needs Dennis to run. Dennis fires him.
Charlie and Mac meet secretly. Mac doesn't know that Dennis already dropped. Mac thinks he's getting paid now. He goes to the union and gets stopped by cops. The cops tell him the truth and unless he gives them a bribe, he goes to jail. They burst out laughing.
